Premier’s Concert Moves To Virtual Format

The Department of Culture is advising that “due to the latest health guidelines that have been put in place by the Government, and out of an abundance of caution, a decision has been made to shift the Premier’s Concert to an entirely virtual format.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The event was scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday March 21, with less than 50 attendees, 100% mask wearing at all times, and included a virtual component. The Premier’s Concert will air online in a virtual format in the near future.

“The Department regrets any inconvenience caused, however notes that the health and safety protocols are a paramount priority.

“The public should note that the event was originally scheduled to take place late last year, but due to COVID-19, like many other events in the community, due to safety reasons the concert was postponed.

“By way of background the Premier’s Concert, was first introduced in December of 1985, as a way of providing a platform to showcase Bermuda’s performing and visual artists of excellence. It has continuously evolved over its three decade history.

“Each year, the Premier’s Concert serves as an opportunity to pay tribute to Bermuda’s musicians, dancers, singers, spoken word artists and other creatives for their hard work, sacrifice and dedication and whose performances or projects were recently funded by the Department of Culture.”
