1 Death, 108 Positive, 238 Active, 7 In Hospital

The Ministry received 4104 test results — spanning 3 days — and 108 were positive, so there are now 238 active cases, of which 7 people are in hospital, and the Ministry confirmed that the island has recorded another coronavirus related death, marking the 128th since the pandemic began.

“Sadly, Bermuda has recorded another coronavirus related death since our last update,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson. “I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

“Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4104 test results, and 108 were positive for the coronavirus.
These results are from testing done on:

  • Sunday: 17 positive out of 973 results [1.7% positivity]
  • Monday: 57 positive out of 1613 results [3.5% positivity]
  • Tuesday: 34 positive out of 1518 results [2.2% positivity]

“Ten of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

“The additional 98 new cases are classified as either local transmission [38] or under investigation [60].

“Additionally, there were 110 recoveries.

“There are 238 active cases, of which:

  • 231 are under public health monitoring; and
  • 7 are in hospital, with 0 in intensive care.

“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 12564 coronavirus cases, out of which 12198 have recovered, and sadly there have been 128 coronavirus-related deaths.

“The source of all active cases is as follows:

  • 25 are Imported
  • 98 are classified as local transmission
  • 115 are Under Investigation

“The source of all confirmed cases is as follows:

  • 2360 are Imported
  • 9784 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 4517 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
    • 5267 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 420 are Under Investigation

“As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change. For age distributions and overall transmission categories, please refer to https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus-Covid19-update. The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is .96.

“Since 11 January 2021, Bermuda residents have received 128,243 vaccinations.

“Of the 128,243 vaccinations given as of 25 March 2022:

  • 52% are women and,
  • 48% are men

“87.0% of all residents over the age of 65 years have had at least one vaccination, and 85.7% are fully immunized.

“To date, 75.4% of the population has been vaccinated [1 dose], and 73.4% of the population has been immunized [2 doses].

“Additionally, 72.4% of those eligible for a booster have received their booster.

Minister Wilson said: “Please remember that living safely with Covid means we must continue to follow public health guidance and get vaccinated and boosted.”

“Avoid closed spaces, crowded places and close contact settings. Wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene, and maintain physical distance. Take an at-home antigen test before going to any events or out with friends and family.”
