The Ministry received 3772 test results — spanning 3 days — and 107 were positive, so there are now 224 active cases, of which 10 people are in hospital, and the Ministry confirmed that the island has recorded another coronavirus related death, marking the 124th since the pandemic began.
“Sadly, we have had another coronavirus related death in Bermuda,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson. “I extend my condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased.”
“Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 3772 test results, and 107 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 2.8%.
These results are from testing done on:
- “Sunday: 13 positive out of 1047 results [1.2% positivity]
- “Monday: 50 positive out of 1421 results [3.5% positivity]
- “Tuesday: 44 positive out of 1304 results [3.4% positivity]
“One of the new cases is classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.
“The additional 106 new cases are classified as either local transmission [32] or under investigation [74].
“Additionally, there were 62 recoveries.
“There are 224 active cases, of which:
- “214 are under public health monitoring; and
- “10 are in hospital, with 0 in intensive care.
“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 11850 coronavirus cases, out of which 11502 have recovered, and sadly there have been 124 coronavirus-related deaths.

“Since January 11, 2021, Bermuda residents have received 125,925 vaccinations.
“Of the 125,925 vaccinations given as of March 5, 2022:
- “52% are women and,
- “48% are men
“87.0% of all residents over 65 years have had at least one vaccination, and 85.6% are fully immunized.
“To date, 74.6% of the population has been vaccinated [1 dose], and 72.4% of the population has been immunized [2 doses].
“Additionally, 71.7% of those eligible for a booster have received their booster.
“Although we now have fewer Covid restrictions, I must remind everyone this is no indication that Covid has gone away,” said Minister Wilson. “We are beginning to see an increase in coronavirus transmission on island, and the current upward trend is worrying. This uptick does not take into consideration that there are many additional positive cases that are not being reported.”
“Living safely with Covid means we must continue to follow public health guidance. Avoid closed spaces, crowded places and close contact settings. Wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene, and maintain physical distance. Take an at-home antigen test before going to any events or out with friends and family.”
