Concacaf Cancels U-17 & U-20 Men’s Events

Concacaf has cancelled the Concacaf Under-17 Qualifiers and Championship, and the Concacaf Under-20 Championship.

The organisation — which is the governing body of football for the Caribbean and Central American region, covering a number of nations and islands including Bermuda — said, “Due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19 on the football calendar and continued concerns over international travel, FIFA recently announced the cancellation of the FIFA U-17 and U-20 Men’s World Cups, scheduled to take place in Peru and Indonesia in 2021, respectively.

“Given FIFA’s decision, the continued uncertainty regarding the impact of COVID-19 in our own region and concerns regarding youth teams traveling in this environment, Concacaf has come to the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Concacaf Under-17 Qualifiers and Championship, and the 2020 Concacaf Under-20 Championship.”
