“As the Christmas and New Year holidays draw closer, we must not forget that we are still in the midst of a pandemic,” Shadow Minister of Health Michael Dunkley said, with Mr Dunkley urging people to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions, wear masks when required, social distance as needed and practice good hygiene.
Mr Dunkley said, “As the Christmas and New Year holidays draw closer, we must not forget that we are still in the midst of a pandemic. Covid has been with us for over 20 months and we have weathered four waves of the corona virus; as a country, we must do all we can not to experience another.
“Now, and through this holiday season, let’s focus on making healthy choices which are paramount in our defense against Covid-19. If you believe in being vaccinated, please do so if you haven’t already. If you are fully vaccinated, please don’t hesitate to get your booster shot.
“While many families will be excited to get together after missing Christmas gatherings last year, please don’t forget to adhere to Covid-19 restrictions put into place by the Department of Health. In addition, wear masks when required, don’t forget to social distance as needed, keep a tight bubble and practice good hygiene.
“Now that the Omicron variant has reached our shores, we must be careful not to inadvertently spread it. Our island cannot afford it, health wise or economy wise. It is very transmissible so we should make good choices to protect ourselves and those around us.
“Keep up the fight against Covid Bermuda and we will enjoy better days ahead! Happy Holidays, stay safe and stay healthy!”
