“Unreasonable Stance” On Mandatory Quarantine

“The Government’s unreasonable stance on the imposition of the luxury hotel quarantine gets more ridiculous as each day passes,” the Constitutional Freedom Bermuda group said, adding that Bermuda’s Covid-19 “status is improving despite the fact that there has been no mandatory supervised quarantine.”

A spokesperson said, “The Government’s unreasonable stance on the imposition of the luxury hotel quarantine gets more ridiculous as each day passes; the PLP government is dividing Bermuda into the two Bermudas that it so used to referring to for its political gain; this time, however, the two Bermudas are segregated into the vaccinated and unvaccinated.

“Last night, the Government announced that all but two Covid-19 restrictions would be lifted because Bermuda’s Covid-19 epidemiological status was heading in the right direction. Despite this fact, the Government still intends to implement the ill-advised and unreasonable mandatory luxury hotel quarantine for unvaccinated travelers will come into effect on 20 June 2021, after making several changes to the effective date.

“The effective date of the supervised quarantine has been changed by the Government several times:

  • 8 June 2020 [as per Government press conference]
  • 13 June 2020 [as per Government press release]
  • 18 July 2020 [as per Government website]
  • 18 June 2020 [as per Government website]
  • 20 June 2020 [as per Government press conference]

“40 days have passed since 7 May 2021 when the Minister of National Security first announced Government’s intention to implement supervised quarantine. 40 days and 40 nights have passed and Bermuda’s Covid-19 epidemiological status is improving despite the fact that there has been no mandatory supervised quarantine.

“Premier Burt and his PLP Cabinet are segregating Bermuda and all Bermudians should be concerned,” the group added.
