Volleyball: All BVA Events Temporarily Suspended

In light of the recent increase in Covid cases, the Bermuda Volleyball Association [BVA] has temporarily suspended all BVA events.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Volleyball Association [BVA] is committed to protecting the health and safety of our members, the public, and those associated with our sport.

“We have been following the advice of the Government of Bermuda and public health experts regarding COVID-19. In light of the recent increase in locally transmitted cases and potential exposures to some schools, the BVA has made the decision to temporarily suspend and/or postpone all BVA events, effective today, until further notice.

“All training sessions for the BVA’s senior & junior, indoor & beach programs will be suspended until further notice. Coaches will be in touch with individual teams, players, and parents.

“BVA has also decided to postpone all Winter League games until further notice. Best efforts will be made to ensure additional weeks are added to the end of the schedule to make up for any weeks lost. Your League Director will be in touch with additional details once available.

“The Coed Indoor Tournament was scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 28, 2020. A new date is currently being worked on for this event and will be shared with those registered as soon as available. If you are not able to make the new date, refunds will be issued.

“If you, or any member of your household, is contacted for contact tracing purposes, please notify the BVA immediately.

“We will continue to monitor the appropriate public health and safety advice and encourage our members to take any and all reasonable precautions. It is our hope that play can be resumed as soon as it is deemed appropriate. We would like the thank our members for your patience and understanding. Until then, we hope you stay healthy.

“If you have any questions or concerns, please email bdavb@hotmail.com.”
