1 Death, 313 Positive, 312 Active, 8 In Hospital

The Ministry received 9800 test results — spanning 7 days — and 313 were positive, so there are now 312 active cases, of which 8 people are in hospital, with 1 in ICU, and the Ministry confirmed that the island has recorded another coronavirus-related death, bringing the total to 138 since the pandemic began in 2020.

“Sadly, Bermuda had another coronavirus-related death since our last update on May 18,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson. “I extend my condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.”

“Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 9800 test results, and 313 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 3.0%.

“These results are from testing done on:

  • Tuesday: 47 positive out of 1621 results [2.9% positivity]
  • Wednesday: 40 positive out of 1350 results [3.0% positivity]
  • Thursday: 49 positive out of 1606 results [3.1% positivity]
  • Friday: 38 positive out of 1683 results [2.3% positivity]
  • Saturday: 40 positive out of 959 results [4.2% positivity]
  • Sunday: 43 positive out of 1088 results [4.0% positivity]
  • Monday: 56 positive out of 1493 results [3.8% positivity]

“45 of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

“The additional 268 new cases are classified as either local transmission [59] or under investigation [209].

“Additionally, there were 360 recoveries.

“There are 312 active cases, of which:

  • 304 are under public health monitoring; and
  • 8 are in hospital, with 1 in intensive care.

“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 14755 coronavirus cases, out of which 14305 have recovered, and sadly there have been 138 coronavirus-related deaths.

“The source of all active cases is as follows:

  • 45 are Imported
  • 59 are classified as local transmission
  • 208 are Under Investigation

“The source of all confirmed cases is as follows:

  • 2773 are Imported
  • 11330 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 5115 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
    • 6215 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 652 are Under Investigation

“There is still a lot of Covid in the community, especially among school children,” said Minister Wilson. “As we head into the long holiday weekend, I urge everyone to please follow public health guidelines. While you are out and about enjoying the Bermuda Day festivities, don’t let your guard down. Continue to wear your mask indoors, and outdoors if you cannot physically distance yourself. Wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitiser, and take antigen tests before you socialise. If you test positive, please stay home.”
