There were 1,211 test results received today and one was positive for Covid-19 — which was imported on a Delta flight from Atlanta — so Bermuda now has a total of 159 cases, with 6 remaining active.
A Government spokesperson said, “Between Sunday and today there were 1,211 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and one was positive for COVID-19.
“The latest case was imported on the Delta flight from Atlanta on 3rd August 2020. The case is a returning resident who tested negative on arrival and quarantined until their next on-island test, taken on Saturday 8th and reported on Sunday 9th August. The case has been isolated and contact tracing has begun.
The Minister of Health Kim Wilson said, “It is a relief that this latest case had safely self-quarantined as required by our public health laws. This responsible behaviour means that the spread of COVID-19 was successfully minimized. This is a poignant reminder of why it is so important for residents who return from travel to quarantine appropriately if they have not obtained a pre-test before boarding a flight back to Bermuda.”
“Bermuda has 159 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:
- there are now 6 active cases, who are
- all under active public health monitoring, and
- none is hospitalized or in critical care;
- a total of 144 have recovered,
- the total deceased remains 9, and
“The average age of all of our confirmed positive cases is 59 and the age range of all of our positive cases is from 18 to 101 years.
“The source of all local cases is as follows:
- 55 are Imported
- 85 are Local transmission, with known contact
- 19 are Local transmission with an unknown contact, and
- none are under investigation
“Bermuda’s country status is “Sporadic Cases”. The seven-day average of our real time reproduction number is less than 1.“
