200 Positive, 238 Active, 6 In Hospital

The Ministry received 3,973 test results — spanning 7 days — and 200 were positive, so there are now 238 known active cases, of which 6 people are in hospital.

The 238 active cases are those that the Ministry is aware of, and it is generally accepted the actual number of active cases is likely higher.

A Government spokesperson said, “Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 3973 test results, and 200 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 5%.

“These results are from testing done on:

  • Tuesday: 36 positive out of 823 results [4.4% positivity]
  • Wednesday: 37 positive out of 740 results [5.0% positivity]
  • Thursday: 23 positive out of 499 results [4.6% positivity]
  • Friday: 33 positive out of 534 results [6.2% positivity]
  • Saturday: 16 positive out of 340 results [4.7% positivity]
  • Sunday: 26 positive out of 552 results [4.7% positivity]
  • Monday: 29 positive out of 486 results [6.0% positivity]

“84 of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

“The additional 116 new cases are classified as either local transmission [51] or under investigation [65].

“Additionally, there were 158 recoveries.

“There are 238 active cases, of which:

  • 232 are under public health monitoring; and
  • 6 are in hospital, with 0 in intensive care.

“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 17556 coronavirus cases, out of which 17170 have recovered, and sadly there have been 148 coronavirus-related deaths.

“The source of all active cases is as follows:

  • 99 are Imported
  • 67 are classified as local transmission
  • 72 are Under Investigation

“The source of all confirmed cases is as follows:

  • 3764 are Imported
  • 13577 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 5845 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
    • 7732 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 215 are Under Investigation

Minister of Health Kim Wilson said “Continue to follow public health guidance. Wear a face mask and wash and sanitise your hands regularly. Maintain a 6ft physical distance from others.

“Importantly, ensure there is proper ventilation when you are indoors.

“Fresh air ventilation is essential for any building or internal space and protects all of us from infections such as Covid. Increase fresh air ventilation wherever possible when indoors.”
