The Ministry received 1818 test results and five were positive — all classified as imported — and there are now 10 active cases.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Health received 1818 test results since the last update, and five were positive for the coronavirus. This gives a test positivity rate of 0.3%.
“All five of the new cases are classified as imported. Two are residents who arrived on Jet Blue B61731 from New York on 15 June 2021 and tested positive on their arrival test.
“One is a resident who arrived on American Airlines AA 2044 from Charlotte on 15 June 2021 and tested positive on their arrival test. Two are residents who arrived on British Airways BA 159 from London on 15 June 2021 and tested positive on their arrival test.
“Additionally, there were no recoveries and no deaths.
“There are currently ten active cases, of which;
- Ten are under public health monitoring and;
- Zero are in the hospital.
“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 2504 total confirmed cases of Covid-19; out of those, 2461 persons have recovered, and sadly, there were 33 Covid-related deaths.
“The source of all cases is as follows:
- 313 are Imported
- 2189 are classified as local transmission of which:
- 1682 are Local Transmission with known contact/source and
- 507 are Local Transmission with an unknown contact/source
- 2 are Under Investigation
“For information regarding age distributions, please refer to https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus-Covid19-update. As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change. The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is less than one [1]. Bermuda’s PAHO country status was upgraded this week to Sporadic Cases.
“Bermuda’s current WHO country status is “Community Transmission”. Bermuda’s WHO country status is due to be changed to “Sporadic Cases” on 21 June 2021, provided that the epidemiological situation continues to meet the criteria i.e. that detected cases remain imported, or sporadic or linked to imported/sporadic cases, and there are no clear signals of further locally acquired transmission.
The statement, which we posted this morning as it was issued just before midnight last night, concluded: “Each of us has a role to play in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. Follow Public Health guidelines, wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene, maintain physical distance and download the WeHealth Bermuda app. Do the research, talk with your doctor and make an informed decision about getting the Covid-19 vaccine.
