There were 776 test results received today and none were positive for COVID-19, so the total of confirmed positive cases remains at 177, with seven active cases.
A Government spokesperson said, “Today there were 776 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and none were positive for COVID-19.
“Bermuda has had 177 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:
- 161 have recovered, and
- there are 7 active cases, who are
- all under active public health monitoring;
- none is hospitalized or in critical care, and
- the total deceased remains 9.
“The source of all local cases is as follows:
- 66 are Imported
- 90 are Local transmission, with known contact
- 19 are Local transmission with an unknown contact, and
- 2 are under investigation
“Bermuda’s country status is “Sporadic Cases”. The seven-day average of our real time reproduction number is less than 1.
“With a major storm approaching, high winds and a potential hit to Bermuda will have an impact on both the testing and quarantine of travellers. Depending on the development of the storm and decisions of the EMO, testing sites may have to close for the safety of the public and testing teams.
“The Ministry of Health is developing a plan for this eventuality. It is possible that persons scheduled for testing on a storm day may be rescheduled and spread out over subsequent days. Travellers will receive emailed communication with instructions on when and where to test. Persons should not vary their testing day independently.
“Persons who are quarantined will remain in quarantine until their re-scheduled testing can take place, as a negative result is required to end quarantine. Storm disruption of testing is an extraordinary event and we apologize to persons affected. Your safety and that of the community is our first concern.
“Quarantined persons should remain at their home or place of quarantine before and after the storm. You can secure your property at your home indoors and outdoors. However, you must wear a surgical mask if you must interact with anyone. Persons who cannot quarantine at home should contact their case manager for instructions.
“We encourage quarantined persons to use online services to purchase storm supplies. You should not go to shops or break quarantine. The Ministry of Health also asks the community to look out for quarantined neighbours to assist with shopping for supplies, if required.
“The COVID-19 Helpdesk availability will follow the broader Government services opening or closing as determined by the EMO.
“The Ministry of Health will communicate testing plans over the next couple of days alongside the EMO announcements.“
