People’s Pharmacy will re-open at 2.00pm today [Dec 11] “following consecutive deep cleans and a needed pause,” the company said, adding that “there are no assurances with this virus; however, the public can rest assured that the People’s team takes every precaution possible to ensure your safety” and “we ask that you do the same for our team by following all posted guidelines when entering the store.”
A spokesperson said, “The closure of People’s Pharmacy at 4:00pm yesterday would have no doubt come as a shock to the public. Unfortunately, with a member of staff testing positive, the team at People’s needed time to process the information. Our closure was in no way due to any heightened danger, or risk to the public.
“The Department of Health [DOH] has a very capable track and trace process. The individual, who is unfortunately positive for Covid-19, was a non-dispensing member of our team and was at People’s for only two shifts on the week of November 30; only two additional team members have been quarantined as direct contacts out of an abundance of caution. The risk to the public, in the Department of Health’s assessment, would be minimal.
Tamara Richardson, Vice President of the People’s Group, shares the following sentiments following the day’s events: “The team at People’s have been voted the Best in Bermuda for a number of years. Yesterday, watching our team come together, overcome fears in order to continue providing top-notch service to our customers, and then manage great anxiety over the testing process, was amazing.
“You never truly know what your team is made of until faced with challenges. This year, 2020, has certainly been fraught with challenges. I can categorically say, I now know we are the Best in Bermuda because we have the Best in Bermuda on our team.”

“Please wear your mask properly in store, sanitize when entering and exiting, and practice physical distancing at all points, especially at the dispensing counters and cash stations. These precautions have shown to be an added defense against the continued spread of this virus.
“It would be remiss of us not to also remind people that a healthy immune system, adequate rest and creating a life of wellness is also a necessity in the fight against this disease.”
