The BIU Executive has sent a letter to their members encouraging them to please “seriously consider getting vaccinated,” have the “conversation with your family doctor” and to “stop listening to the social media quacks.”
The letter sent to their members said, “The BIU Executive Board is sending this message to all BIU members in light of the rising cases of the Covid 19 virus and more alarming the number of Bermudians that have died from the virus which includes a number of BIU members.
“It is against this back drop that while we understand that it is a personal choice to take the vaccine the BIU Executive Board would like to encourage our members to please seriously consider getting vaccinated. We are asking you to please have the conversation with your family Doctor about taking the vaccine, please stop listening to the social media quacks, your most intimate relationship about your health should be with your own Doctor. ’
“These are very different times that we are living in and we need to keep each other safe by protecting not only our immediate family members but also our other family in the workplace. We have heard the conversation going around that vaccinated people are being treated differently from those that are not vaccinated. The Board would like to make it clear that we believe that if non-vaccinated people are required to get tested then the vaccinated person should also be tested because they also can pass the virus on.
“This is a war and we should all be working together to keep Bermuda as safe as we can. We do not know if Covid will ever go away entirely but we would rather not see any more of our members die or suffer unnecessarily when the science has proven that vaccination does work. The health of our members has always been a concern so we are asking that you really consider this request and have the conversation with your Doctor and let’s help get Bermuda back to some form of normalcy.
“There are so many of our members on the front line and the BIU Executive Board would like to say thank you for all that you do to keep us safe. We know that it has not been easy from March 2020 to date, so we would like to encourage you to continue doing what you are doing for Bermuda, again we say thank you.”
