Applications Can Be Filed: Unemployment Benefit

The Ministry of Finance has renewed the unemployment benefit support for individual workers, and eligible persons can receive $1500 for the full 3 week closure.

In an online post, the Bermuda Government said, “The Government is again committed to supporting workers and businesses affected by the revised and necessary regulations. The Ministry of Finance has renewed the unemployment benefit support for individual workers, and payments up to a maximum of $500 per week.

“The aim is to speed the payments so that persons eligible receive $1500 for the full 3 week closure as soon as possible. Applications can be filed at https://uba.gov.bm.

Premier David Burt also tweeted, “The Government is committed to supporting workers & businesses affected by the revised Covid-19 regulations. The Ministry of Finance renewed the unemployment benefit support for individual workers, and payments up to a maximum of $500 per week.

“The aim is to provide payments to persons & businesses eligible to receive $1500 for the full 3 week closure as soon as possible.

“Persons employed by bars & clubs that received payments from the Government in December or January when closures were in effect, do not have to re-apply. Your employers will be contacted to confirm your eligibility & you will be paid next week.

“If you did not receive payments due to closures, but you believe that you are eligible now, you can apply on https://uba.gov.bm. Also, persons affected by a quarantine order & are unable to work remotely can apply to receive $500/week payments.”
