Chrysalis Bermuda will host a webinar featuring Dr. Samantha O’Bannon, Dr. Cherita Rayner, and Dr. Shawnee Basden on Monday [Dec 6] at 6.00pm with the topic of ‘The Ongoing Impact of Covid 19 on Mental Health.’
A spokesperson said, “Chrysalis Bermuda welcomes Dr. Samantha O’Bannon to their practice as a visiting Clinical Neuropsychologist.
“Dr. Samantha O’Bannon [formally Scott] was born and raised in Bermuda and graduated from Bermuda Institute. She completed her post-secondary education at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, before accepting a position to conduct psychological and neurological research at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. O’Bannon is the first Bermudian to receive a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Neuropsychology. She attended Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California
“Dr. O’Bannon trained at some of the top hospitals in the United States, including UCLA, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles [CHLA], and Loma Linda. She also has extensive experience and training in several therapeutic interventions and approaches. Currently, she is working in Los Angeles, California, as a Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist with a clinical focus on pediatric and adult populations.
“Dr. O’Bannon specializes in brain and behavior relationships and helps families and individuals determine the impact of brain injury or neurological and/or neurodevelopmental strengths and weaknesses on a person’s daily life [e.g. school, work, relationships].”
Dr. Rayner, founder of Chrysalis, said, “We are delighted to welcome Dr. O’Bannon to Chrysalis Bermuda. She brings a wealth of knowledge to our practice and provides a service that is not currently offered on the island.”
The spokesperson said, “Dr. O’Bannon will be providing the following services while on the island: Academic Screeners, Adult Performance Assessment, Psychoeducational Assessment, and Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluations.”
Dr. O’Bannon said, “I am thrilled to introduce the Neuropsychology specialty to the island and provide comprehensive and targeted assessments, ultimately reducing the need for locals to travel abroad to receive these services.”
