National Heroes Day should be dedicated to all the frontline workers who have helped get Bermuda through the Covid-19 crisis, according to Shadow National Security Minister, Ben Smith.
Mr. Smith said, “There were so many people who sacrificed so much to make sure Bermuda came through this pandemic. It is impossible to thank them all but the Police, the Regiment, grocery store and pharmacy workers, nurses, doctors, the fire service, customs officers, and charities made enormous sacrifices and should all be honoured collectively as National Heroes.
“Bermuda has the ability to be in phase 3 as we go into this Heroes weekend because of the testing ability provided by our local labs and everyone that has assisted in getting the tests and PPE to Bermuda.
“We should be proud of what they did and we should pay tribute to them while also remembering all the unsung heroes – those who quietly provided food or who looked after their elderly neighbours and those who contributed so much money to charities.
“Please take out time over this holiday weekend to be safe, follow the guidelines, and thank all of our National Heroes that have helped us during this Pandemic.”
