With the Covid-19 pandemic continuing to affect countries around the globe, the number of confirmed cases worldwide has now surpassed 31 million, with over 965,000 deaths worldwide, and the United States having the most confirmed cases and deaths in the world.
A BBC story said, “The UK has reached “a perilous turning point”, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, as he set out a raft of new coronavirus restrictions for England which could last for up to six months.
“Shop staff will have to wear face masks and weddings will be limited to a maximum of 15 people, under new rules.
“Fines for breaking laws on gatherings and not wearing mask will increase to £200 for a first offence.
“He also warned “significantly greater restrictions” could come if necessary.”
A CNN story said, “Dr. Anthony Fauci said the impending 200,000 death toll from Covid-19 in the US is “sobering” and “stunning.”
“Speaking to CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta during the CITIZEN by CNN event, Fauci said the nation’s current baseline of 35,000 to 40,000 cases a day is too high.
“This high baseline, “ultimately – some will lead to hospitalizations, and those will lead to death,” he said. “The idea of 200,000 deaths is really very sobering and in some respects, stunning.”
