“There will be police curfew checkpoints set up at locations across the island to ensure compliance with the curfew regulations,” the police said today.
This follows after the Premier announced that the 12am – 5am curfew is being reinstated effective tonight [March 3] “due to the current outbreak of the new UK strain.”
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service wishes to remind the public that a midnight to 5:00 a.m. curfew has been reinstated as part of government efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus Covid-19.
“As such, there will be police curfew checkpoints set up at locations across the island, to ensure compliance with the curfew regulations.”
Martin Weekes, Assistant Commissioner of Police explained: “It is a criminal offense to be out in public without lawful excuse during the curfew time of midnight to 5:00 a.m. If you are not sure as to who is exempted or how to apply for an exemption letter, please visit here.
“I again urge that when leaving a location or event, you allow yourself ample time to get to your final destination before the midnight start of the curfew.”
