Postal workers have been delivering critical mail as pension cheques and Ministry of Education learning materials for school children.
A government spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Post Office [BPO] is advising the public that its postal workers are currently delivering local mail as part of a limited, yet critical service.
“As public officers, Bermuda’s postal workers have been provided with an exemption to operate. Postal workers have been delivering such critical mail as pension cheques and Ministry of Education learning materials for school children.
“As the public can appreciate, the safety and wellbeing of the public and the BPO postal workers is a paramount priority. All postal workers who are engaged in residential deliveries only deliver to mailboxes which are located on the boundaries of properties. There is no interaction with the public.
“In keeping with the Department of Health guidelines, all employees who are required to work during the Shelter in Place period have PPE equipment, inclusive of masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer.”
