There are two people who have been hospitalized due to Covid-19 and both are in stable condition, and most the people that were diagnosed with the virus are at home and “many of them have fully recovered.”
This was from Premier David Burt during a recent press conference, where he confirmed that the island currently has 17 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus.
When asked how the people who tested positive for Covid-19 are doing, the Premier said, “There are only two persons who have been hospitalized as a result, both of those persons are in stable condition.
“Additionally, the persons who were diagnosed with the virus, most of them are at home, many of them have fully recovered as well, and those things will certainly be reported.
“So I think that it’s important for us to note and to recognize that from the hospital’s perspective, there is no massive increase in cases. There are two persons that are requiring hospital treatment that are in the hospital.”
It is, of course, welcome news that most people have recovered and the hospital is not overwhelmed, as is happening at other places around the world, and obviously the aim is to keep it that way.
The island’s hospital is in full scale preparation mode due to the Covid-19 pandemic and have said they will do everything within their power to be ready, however have stressed that the “community actions now – social distancing, washing hands, not touching our eyes, nose, and mouth, adhering to quarantine and isolation guidelines and staying at home – are the most important actions that will enable the healthcare system to cope.”
The official testing figures, which are compiled below, do not yet reflect the recoveries however the Premier said they “will certainly be reported,” so when they are added in with the official figures we will update the chart, and as it stands now, the Premier has confirmed the welcome news that many people have fully recovered.
