168 New, 1547 Active, 58 In Hospital, 14 In ICU

The Ministry received 4074 test results – spanning two days — and 168 were positive, so there are now 1547 active cases, of which 58 people are in hospital, with 14 in ICU, and sadly the Ministry has confirmed two more deaths.

“Sadly, Bermuda has suffered two more coronavirus related deaths,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson. “I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of those who recently lost a loved one to circumstances related to the coronavirus.”

“Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4074 test results, and 168 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 4.1%.

“These results are from testing done on:

  • Sunday: 75 positive out of 1658 results [4.5% positivity]
  • Monday: 93 positive out of 2416 results [3.8% positivity]

“20 of the new cases are classified as imported with history of travel in the previous 14 days.

“The additional 148 new cases are classified as either local transmission or remain under investigation.

“Additionally, since the last update, there have been 132 recoveries and two deaths.

“There are 1547 active cases, of which:

  • 1489 are under public health monitoring and
  • 58 are in hospital, with 14 in intensive care

“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 4800 confirmed coronavirus cases, out of which 3208 have recovered, and sadly 45 Covid related deaths.

“The source of all active cases is as follows:

  • 89 are Imported
  • 302 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 302 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
    • 0 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 1156 are Under Investigation

“Active cases by vaccination status, transmission, and type:

  • Imported cases: 97% are fully vaccinated, and 3% are not vaccinated
  • Local/Under Investigation cases: 34% are fully vaccinated, and 65% are not vaccinated
  • Variant typing is not available at this time due to the prioritisation of test results.

“The source of all confirmed cases is as follows:

  • 581 are Imported
  • 2841 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 2298 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
    • 543 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 1378 are Under Investigation

“The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is 1.18. Bermuda’s current country status has been changed to Clusters of Cases. However, local data continues to indicate that Bermuda meets the criteria for Community Transmission. Community transmission is characterised by an increased incidence of locally acquired, widely dispersed cases, with many cases not linked to specific clusters.”
